11.3 Testing Evidence

Due to the variety of kinds of samples submitted, there is no specific set of procedures for testing all forms of evidence that comes into the laboratory. However, a generic procedure is used that helps insure an efficient identification of submitted evidence. The procedure has two steps: presumptive testing and confirmatory testing.
